I'm not going to lie, I'm having the hardest time coming up with a topic for my profile piece. Everything I come up with is either highly inaccessible, not interesting, or just plain stupid.
I really don't even know where to start, so I would appreciate any thoughts, tips, or tricks that I could use to help get that 'glimmer' of an idea.
Thanks everyone!

You've got to give something to get something back. What interests you? What ideas have you thought about and dismissed?
What interests me is science and running.
Things I've thought about:
- woman in science (but that is not that exciting; I'm a woman in science and I don't think that it's anything special)
- an activist (relating to the PCB dumping in KZOO, for example, because I think it's so interesting when people get involved in something they really believe in, which is something I do not do)
- an alum who played professional ultimate in the 70's and just got replacement knee surgery because of it and can't run anymore
I guess the third one interests me the most. I definitely have the most to say about it. But is that newsworthy? I guess it kind of reminds me of one writer's piece about her experience with knee surgery. But maybe the second idea would work too? I don't know!
The third one could certainly work. The college's Ultimate team is competing this time of year, and they're doing really well. So it's definitely timely.
For the second idea, you would have to find the person spearheading the anti-dumping efforts and really examine why he/she is so irked by this, and why he/she puts so much time and energy into protesting. I think it would interesting, but you'd really have to get to the heart of WHY. Both ideas have potential, though.
Good luck JT!
